More Twilight madness

Because I can't get enough of Twilight, I have begun reading a fanfiction. This particular one was recommended by someone I subscribe to on YouTube. This is my first Twilight fanfic and I must say I am impressed so far. Here's the link if you are interested (I must forewarn you that in this universe there are no vampires. Edward and Bella are normal human beings dealing with post traumatic stress that keeps them from sleeping. In this world the character names are the same, but their relation to Edward and Bella are not and the personalities don't necessarily match up. There are some cute connections to the Twilight series that true fans will spot. "Irritable grizzly", anyone? There are also some definite adult moments in there too. Anywho, take it with a grain of salt. It's all in fun!): http://angstgoddess003.livejournal.com/699.html

Also, I have found a fun new Twilight riddle similar to the one from http://riddles.juliakniep.de/. I just started it today and there are even more questions than juliakniep's. There are 142! Here's to more madness and late nights!: http://www.vics-riddles.webs.com/

Soap and Glory

I was at Target yesterday killing some time and I decided to check out the line of Soap and Glory beauty products. Now, I had seen their stuff before and I have always loved the packaging. It is so adorable. All of their products are pink with women from the 1950s on the packaging. I love how uber-feminine all of their things are. But yesterday I actually took the time to look at everything they had to offer and I have to say... THEIR STUFF SMELLS LIKE CRAP! It all has the smell of a cheap soap, sort of grassy. I was so disappointed. For their stuff to be so pricey, you think they could come up with better scents. All of their products have exactly the same scent - their lotions, body wash, eye cream. I did see a few items that were new and blueberry scented and they all smelled bad too. I, for one, will not be buying this stuff because it just smells so awful.

I must say that I am impressed with the range of brands that Target has to offer that are organic and cruelty-free companies. They have Kiss My Face, Boots, Alba, Burt's Bees, and Yes to Carrots. Most of these brands however have stinky products. I don't know if this is a result of the organic ingredients or what. Yes to Carrots actually had a refreshingly clean scent. Anyway, kudos to Target for realizing that some consumers try to be conscience of animal testing and the environment.

Save your money

I saw The Haunting in Connecticut yesterday. It was completely awful. I was so bored during the whole movie. It wasn't even scary. It was all "We live in a haunted house and are seeing scary things. Haunted souls freed by a priest. Miracles occur because the spirits are freed. Blah, blah, blah" God, it completely sucked. The one redeeming thing in the movie was the lead guy who saw all the dead people. He was actually a good actor. Unfortunately, the script was heinous.*

*I am not a movie critic.

An example of my extreme nerdiness

I was supposed to go see A Haunting in Connecticut with two of my friends tonight. (Yes, I do actually go see movies other than Twilight.) However, my friends punked out on me. I actually find myself a little relieved. It just shows how much of a recluse I am that I would actually rather stay in and watch a crappy Nora Roberts movie on Lifetime/munch on grapes/blog/read than go hang with friends. I am so reluctantly social. I swear I would probably stay in my room 24/7 if it weren't socially frowned upon. I realize it's got to be good for my mental health to occassionally escape my obsessions and venture into the real world. I just prefer my time trapped in that realm.

Anywho, I think I'm gonna go see the movie Monday after work. That way I only have to pay the matinee price. :)

I'm trying to give her a chance

I'm listening to Lady Gaga's Pokerface right now and I am trying really hard to like it. I really don't like this song or Just Dance. I don't get why everyone is so in love with her. I just don't like dance music. Blah...

More Twilight (Good God! This girl really is obsessed)

As I'm re-reading Twilight, I can't help but notice the differences between the book and the movie. I'm almost done with it, so I guess it's a little late to be posting these differences, but I may go back and try to list some of the others. I may not. Anyway, here's one that you may find interesting (or not).

So, in the movie Bella meets James at the ballet studio. When she gets there, she hears her mother's voice. We find out that it was all a ruse and the voice is actually a video tape. On the tape we see a young Bella talking about her not so awesome ballet skills. ("Mom, I suck." Or something to that effect.) However, in the book a different scene is played out on the tape:

"There she was, on the TV screen, tousling my hair in relief. It was Thanksgiving, and I was twelve. We'd gone to see my grandmother in California, the last year before she died. We went to the beach one day, and I'd leaned too far over the edge of the pier. She'd seen my feet flailing, tryint to reclaim my balance. "Bella? Bella?" she'd called to me in fear." (page 444)

No worries Rob

I was just re-reading Rob's GQ article and he seems to have this fear that one day, amongst the throngs of crazy Twi fans, he will be stabbed. I am selflessly offering my "services" as your personal bodyguard. Nobody cuts my Rob, bitches!

My Twilight DVD is here!

I watched the commentary last night and it is so funny. Rob is so self-deprecating and I love it! The documentary is cool and I love the extended scenes. I was kind of disappointed in the deleted scenes. There were too few of them and they were too short! Anyway, I can now watch this movie to my heart's content. And I intend to.

A collection of quotes...

...centered around a theme I am facing in my life right now:

"Death is not the biggest fear we have; our biggest fear is taking the risk to be alive - the risk to be alive and express what we really are." - Don Miguel Ruiz

"Only when we are no longer afraid do we begin to live." - Dorothy Thompson

"You must do the things you think you cannot do." - Eleanor Roosevelt

"Don't be afraid to go out on a limb. That's where the fruit is." - H. Jackson Browne

"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity. They seem to be more afraid of life than death." - James F. Bymes

"Our doubts are traitors and make us lose the good we often might win, by fearing to attempt." - Jane Addams

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure." - Marianne Williamson

"One will never reach distant shores, if he chooses to remain upon the dock. In fear, his little ship of dreams may be dashed upon the rocks." - F. Bolen

"Anything I've ever done that ultimately was worthwhile...initially scared me to death." - Betty Bender

"The key to change...is to let go of fear." - Roseanne Cash

"Fear of failure must never be a reason not to try something." - Frederick Smith

These are to serve as reminders to never let my fear stop me.

My new girl crush

Anyone that knows me is too completely aware of my love for Gwen Stefani. I have loved her since I was 13. I've always said that as soon as it is legal, I will marry her. She is beautiful and phenomenally talented. However, I think I have a new girl crush - Kristen Stewart. I friggin' love her. I can't wait to see The Cake Eaters. I devour every little bit of information that I can about that movie. She is so talented and what a challenging and moving part to play. I also can't wait to see her in Adventureland.

I have been known on more than one occasion to be drawn to the theater for a specific actor. Namely - Johnny Depp, Ryan Gosling, and (most recently) Rob Pattinson. I have very few actresses who can bring me into the theater without much thought to the plot of the movie. In fact, I'm having trouble coming up with even one right now. I really enjoy Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman, but I can't say that I would see a movie just because they are in it. But, I definitely can see myself being a big Kristen groupie. If she's in it, I'm there. She just seems like a really strong woman and I'm all about that. I tend to gravitate towards artists who have a little undercurrent of anger running through them - Gwen, Alanis Morrissette, Fiona Apple. She's definitely one of them.

Twilight DVD release party

I went. And boy was it a big FAT nothing. I went around 10, just to see the merchandise they were going to have and I was sorely disappointed. They had a few tote bags, shirts I had seen a million times already, and some key chains. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was sad that there wasn't more selection. Of course I didn't buy the DVD because I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail. It is supposed to be here tomorrow. I got to watch it for free last night on Amazon.com. They allowed their customers a free download of the movie for having to wait for the DVD. I'm still kind of irritated about it though. This is the first time I have ever had an issue with Amazon.com, so I guess I'll let it slide. I've ordered from them so may times before and have always been thrilled with their service.

I am also supposed to get my Tippy blush in the mail sometime soon. The other girl already received her items in the swap, so I hope my stuff is on the way.

Can't wait to "watch" the commentary on the Twilight DVD. Heard it was great. Love hearing Rob's voice!

Nothing quite like it

God, there is nothing quite like the moment when you realize that you are falling desperately in love.

How completely depressing...

...when a 13 year old knows how to style their hair better than I do. :(

Friday, March 20, 2009

So bummed

I just read that the surprise appearances from the Twilight cast and crew will be in NY, LA, Chicago, Dallas, and Salt Lake City. I didn't really expect them to come here, but damn. No one ever comes to Georgia. Only one more reason for me to get out of here as soon as I can. I am planning my escape...

I'm still gonna go to the DVD release "party" though. Notice the use of quotes.

Can't wait to get my copy of Twilight in the mail. I guess I shouldn't have pre-ordered it because now I have to wait a little longer to get it than the rest of the world, but the longer I wait the sweeter it will be when I get it. I was just so excited when I saw the release date, that I got click happy.

Going to T.G.I. Fridays tonight and I have exactly $0 to spend. That's okay though. I'm gonna eat at home and go hang with the girls while I sip on my water...with lemon. God, how that annoys me. "I want water...with lemon." Grr. "You were such a wonderful waitress. Here's $1.16 to show you my gratitude."

Twilight DVD release party

I have decided to succumb to the total nerd in me. I am going to the Twilight DVD release party at my Wal-Mart tomorrow night. I am going to see my fellow nerds and because there is supposed to be a cool section of the store dedicated to Twilight merchandise. I am also going in the vain hope that a member of the cast or crew decides to show up. FAT chance, I know, but I would kick my own ass if someone does come and I'm not there. Summit has announced that members of the cast and crew will be popping up at surprise locations all over the country. I sincerely doubt anyone will show up at my local Wal-Mart, but what is the harm in just going and hanging out in the store for a couple of hours. I spend at least an hour a week in Wal-Mart anyway just looking at crap and I figure why not? Okay, I have spent way to much time justifying this. That should be an indicator as to my embarassment at my obsession.

Anywho, I have been having real money issues lately. I managed to overdraw my bank account twice in a week! Wachovia is so damn slow in taking things out that I forget that things are coming out of my account. I think I have gotten it all straightened out, much to my chagrin.

Here's to hoping for a better week!

A mish-mosh of thoughts

I got to have my retail therapy today. And I actually spent less than $40, which is somewhat of an accomplishment for me. I bought the next Sookie book, Dead As A Doornail, Triston and Isolde on DVD, a green tee for tomorrow, and MAC's Plush Lash mascara. I kind of wanted to wait to buy the mascara, but I just couldn't help it. I have already tried it out and I'm pretty sure I am going to love it. It has a brush that is almost as big as the Too Faced Lash Injection brush, but I feel it is much easier to use. It doesn't clump and it makes my lashes longer and more voluminous. Here's to hoping it works out for me. I have tried so many mascaras lately, I want to find one that works. I hate clumping and some mascaras just make my lashes go all of these different ways and they look funky. Oh, yeah. I need to buy a new eye lash curler because mine literally fell apart today. I bought that thing SO LONG AGO. I don't even remember when. Back before I was even wearing blush. I know that it's gross I've had it for so long, but I just haven't broken down and bought one, but now I must.

Anywho, I'm proud of myself because some money is in the bank and I was able to buy some things for myself. Just the cell phone bill due now and it is small. Plans for more spending: get a haircut THIS week (it's been over a year) and Twilight should come out of my account this week from where I pre-ordered it.

My mom bought me a Twilight shirt from Wal-Mart. It is the infamous screen print of Edward snuggling Bella with that sinister look on his face. I'm actually a bit embarassed to wear it out. I have finally gotten over the embarassment of wearing my hoodie in public. Most people have no idea what it means anyway. (Can you believe that?) I just think I would feel like such a fangirl wearing the tee. Yes, I know the name of my blog is the ramblings of a perpetual FANGIRL. That is just what I am. I have embraced it.

5 days until Twilight is released on DVD!

I have started watching this show on ABC called Castle and I absolutely adore it! The second episode comes on tonight. I can feel a new obsession forming...

Beauty wish list

Lately I have been really broke. No, I mean REALLLLLY broke. I've had to pay a lot of bills and get my car taken care of since I got back from NY. Boo to being responsible. I am really big into retail therapy. Nothing gives me the high of shopping for makeup, clothes, DVDs, and yes even boring stuff like conditioner and new lotion. So in order to bring myself back up from this depressing little pit I've been in lately, I have been scheming. I think I have convinced my mom to go on a little shopping trip to Lenox in the next few weeks. I plan on hitting (of course) MAC, Sephora, and Lush. There are so many beauty products I want. And for the heck of it (and as a list for the trip) I have listed them below. I will be lucky to afford 2 items on the list. sigh.

- 188 brush
- 217 brush
- 219 brush
- Love Rock Blush Grand Duo ($22.50)*
- Sketch, Stars N' Rockets, Antiqued, Tempting, Sushi Flower, All That Glitters, Honey Lust, Beautiful Iris, Satellite Dreams, Beauty Marked, and Black Tied e/s ($14.50)*
- Rubenesque paint pot
- Plush Lash mascara ($12)*
- Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in light ($25)*
- Vanilla pigment

- Make up Forever HD Microfinish Powder
- Make up Forever Smokey Lash Mascara
- O.P.I. polishes in Arm Candy, Dometic Goddess, Meet for Drinks, and Never Enough Shoes

- Honey I Washed the Kids soap
- Rockstar soap

- Bronze Universal Sun Illuminator
- Any Soft Touch e/s

*Things that I most want and will try to buy when I go to Lenox.

Other things I want:
Boots (at Target):
- No. 7 eye cream of some sort
- No. 7 facial cleanser and toner
- No. 7 facial moisturizer

- China Glaze polishes

I am also in search of both a dark grey and a light grey nail polish.

Anywho, I hope to at least be able to get the bare minimum on this trip: a new face powder, some pink-y blush, new mascara, new e/s, and a nice polish.

Stupid E!

I was just watching E!'s coverage of the Twilight DVD release and they were talking about the "evil, bloodsucking vampires of Twilight." They listed Rachel Lefevre, Edi Cathegi, and Kellan Lutz as these evil vampires. How annoying! Kellan Lutz is not one of the nomads. He is part of the Cullen family. Yes, he is a bloodsucking vampire, but he's not evil. How long has E! been covering Twilight and they don't know who is who? Grr. It just really annoyed me. Anyway, 10 days until the DVD comes out!!!

Harry Potter

I'm watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire right now and there are some things I gotta say.

1. This movie actually caught my attention. It's not that I dislike Harry Potter or anything. When the first movie came out, I was as gung-ho as everyone else even though I have never read any of the books. I really loved the first one. However, it is played so much on abcfamily that I have become immune to it. I can't watch it because it is just on too much. I think I saw the first three in theatres but lost interest after that. I can totally understand the mania behind Harry Potter. I get it. I'm a fanatic of most things supernatural, so I can't really explain why I have never been caught up in the Harry Potter hype. But, for some reason this movie really caught me.

2. This story was kind of dark for the demographic Rowling was trying to reach. I was kind of disturbed by some of the scenes. Like the scene where the Triwizard Tournament contestants have to save their loved ones from the lake. I mean, come on, it is so cruel. Thank God that Harry saved Fleur's little sister. They were gonna just let her die down there? It was completely against these peoples' wills. Secondly, the scene where Voldemort is telling Harry how much he wants to kill him and saying how he has saved Harry's death for himself. It was incredibly sad and creepy. Thirdly, and this should be no shock to anyone, Cedric's death totally sucked.

3. Obviously, this was gonna be in my discussion of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire: Rob Pattinson. How much more could I love this man? He was so incredibly great in every scene. *She swoons* Such a frickin' fan. I used to have a crush on Harry Potter. Next to Cedric, Harry don't stand a chance. :) I loved the part where they were in the maze and he insists that he and Harry grab the cup together because Harry helped him. So much integrity! I also loved when Moaning Myrtle was in the bath with Harry and talks about "the handsome one" (meaning Cedric) and how all the bubbles were almost gone from the bath before he figured out the riddle. I never really knew that Rob had such a large part in the movie. Seeing him in this only made me appreciate him more and confirmed that I really do love ROB and not just EDWARD. Only makes me anticipate more his work in Little Ashes and his future projects. It was cool to see him play someone besides the sparkly vampire.

Twilight obsessed?

I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamed that I met Kristen Stewart and we became friends. She slept over at my house and we watched a movie. I knew she was Kristen and not Bella, but I kept thinking "I bet she's sad that Edward is dead." I was so sad because Edward was dead. (Not vampire dead, but DEAD DEAD). Maybe I can segue this dream into a book that will sell millions of copies...

Twilight vs. True Blood continued

I found another similarity between the series'. In both universes, werewolves run a few degrees hotter than humans. Of course, it's common knowledge (I sound so serious :)) that vampires run colder than humans. Maybe it's common knowledge that werewolves are hotter. I'm not sure because I don't know much about werewolf mythology.

P.S. I picked up the fourth Sookie book today (Dead to the World) and can't wait to start reading it tonight. My friend has told me a lot about it and it's her favorite, so she has me psyched.

Twilight deleted scenes

I have decided to avoid any YouTube videos, Access Hollywood videos, etc. that show deleted scenes from Twilight. It's so tempting to watch them, but I want to wait until I get the DVD. I don't want to ruin the excitement. It's going to be hard to avoid it. Just like it was hard to avoid the Oscars. I didn't get to watch them on the day that they aired this year because I was in NY. My dad DVRed them for me so I could watch them when I got back home. By the time I got back to GA, I already knew that Kate Winslet, Heath Ledger, Penelope Cruz, and Slumdog Millionaire had won awards. I learned all of that sitting in the airport waiting for my flight home. I was so pissed! If I had seen the Oscars that Sunday, I probably wouldn't have heard anything more about them. That's my luck. Anyway, I can't wait until March 21!

Today was such a beautiful day. I am not much of an outside person, but today I couldn't help but appreciate the outdoors. It was so cool out and the sun was shining. I could feel spring coming. I took Johnny to the park and we walked around. When I got home I sat on the swing in my backyard and read my new Dali biography. It was so nice to feel the sun on my skin. I can't wait for summer.

It's true

I picked up Dali's biography today and I just read the story about the bat being eaten by ants. Dali himself admits that he took a bite out of the bat. Wherever I read that story in middle school, they must have censored that little jewel. How incredibly disturbing.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

So, I've always been a fan of Salvador Dali's work. His paintings have always kind of disturbed me. I will never forget the first time I saw The Persistence of Memory. I really can't look at that painting for too long. It creeps me out. I remember being in middle school and reading about Dali's fear of ants. When he was a child he kept a wounded bat in his home while it was recuperating. One day he returned and found the bat being eaten by ants. Imagine what a disturbing image that had to be. That would disturb me now, at 23 years old. Imagine seeing that as a child. I recently read that he picked up the bat and bit a chunk out of it. I'm not sure how true that account is. I don't remember ever hearing that before. Anyway, no wonder Dali's works are so bizzare.

With all that being said, the reason my interest in Dali has been re-sparked is because of Rob's new movie Little Ashes (which is about the life of Dali). Recently, I have been looking at his paintings online and I have ordered his autobiography. I was trying to understand why I am drawn to his work even though it unsettles me to look at it. That may be a reason for my appreciation of it in itself. It creates a reaction in me that I don't normally feel. I know that I love the vivid colors in his paintings and I love the fact that most of his works contain hidden imagery. I really enjoy trying to find hidden images in artwork and I love that most of his pieces are rife with ambiguous images of himself. I also like that a recurrent theme in his works is his obsession with time. His melting clocks have always intrigued me.

Dream tour

So I bought my concert tickets for the No Doubt tour!! They come to Atlanta June 5 and I couldn't be more fucking excited. I'm watching all this YouTube footage of their performances and I am getting myself so psyched. I swear this is a dream tour for me! No Doubt and Paramore and even The Sounds who (thanks to Laura) I completely heart. *I've been dying to say this to you, but I don't know what else to do. I've seen your fucking attitude.* Ha. Love it.
